A Quote for life!

“A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly.

Lemonade Stand - Online Game

Lemonade or निम्बू पानी as we know it, is a treat in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Jaipur and other hot cities in India. It is equally good in other parts of the world. Now, I came across a game online which deals with making and selling Lemonades and growing a business. Its like a personal stall in the neighborhood and trying to make it big! I am sure you will like it – it involves planning and implementation – two very important sides of Sales & Marketing Business. I am so impressed with this game, that I should be suggesting this for all the big business schools around the world. Hats off to the people who created this game! Read below for the links and instructions on this game:

Do you like Advertising? Then you should try this version of Lemonade Stand. Read the rules properly, before you start business. It is a bit different from the other versions I came across.
Not Happy? Still No? Ok, download the Game and Play it offline. You may try with this link. The name of this variant is Lemonade Tycoon. (Versions may vary!)

Lemonade Stand Introduction (First two Links)
---------------------------------------------------
Hi, and welcome to Lemonade Stand! Your goal in this game will be to make as much money as you can within 30 days. To do this, you've decided to open your own business -- a Lemonade Stand! You'll have complete control over almost every part of your business, including pricing, quality control, inventory control, and purchasing supplies. You'll also have to deal with the weather, which can be unpredictable. Unfortunately, the weather will play a big part when customers are deciding whether or not to buy your product.

Other factors which will make or break your business is the price you charge. Customers are more apt to pay higher prices when the product (your lemonade) is more in demand - When the weather is hotter. As the temperature drops, and the weather turns bad (overcast, cloudy, rain), don't expect them to pay nearly what they would on a hot, hazy day.

The other major factor which comes into play is your customer's satisfaction. As you sell your product, people will decide whether or not they like it, and how much they like or dislike it. As time goes on, they'll start to tell their friends, neighbors, and relatives (hence, your 'popularity'). Sell a good product for a good price, and you'll build business over time; overcharge for inferior products, and you'll be out of business sooner than you'd think. Another more direct form of customer satisfaction affecting sales takes place directly at the stand. As customers buy your product, you'll see some tell you what they think by the bubbles over their heads. If customers are enjoying their product, others are more likely to buy. If they're expressing their dissatisfaction, other customers are more likely to take their business elsewhere.

My Suggestions:

Play the online game for a couple of times, before you get accustomed to it. Try to find out the relation between a Pitcher and Cup. Also, keep in mind the amount of Sugar / Lemon that goes in to a cup. Do not have a high inventory. You may lose them in the course of the game. There are many versions of the same game, from many authors and vendors. I have listed a few. If you want more, please search on Google. Happy Squeezing Lemonades!

Yahoo Answers!

Yahoo Answers is a good place to spend some quality time. I joined a year ago; but never had spent time until today. Its good and the Point System is also cool. I said quality time because its always a two way process there. Give and take and high transfer of knowledge! Every second you spend there, you learn something. So, give it a try and keep answering questions. Go ASK, ANSWER and DISCOVER!

Best thing is that I am getting more time to spend around and browse the net after I left Orkut. That was a god decision. Hence proved!

A wrath in disguise

Life does not stop for you – does it? It goes on, like always. The same guy keep on delivering the newspaper in the morning and the same milkman brings milk. Your absence is felt for some time – and is forgotten in some time. Rest goes as usual. What makes you stand out? What makes you felt? A few decisions and a few steps you take in life? Yeah … may be. But it is too awful to even think that you are not missed anymore and you are not being felt. Worst becomes the case, when you are still alive!

Think of a world that is working day and night – all around you – you can see them, but they cannot. Rather, they do not see you. It’s like being neglected, being unused, being abandoned and left out. It’s not a good feeling at all. Everybody wants to be involved in whatever is going around them. In your office, if nobody asks you any doubts or none seek your suggestion or if they are always happy to not see you in office, can you work there anymore? Oh! Forget about the office – more dreadful case. You come home and see the same in your family. Your father does not ask you before selling the old motorbike; your mother does not care to bother you in booking the tickets for the next winter vacations and your wife never asks you what she should cook. How wonderful, isn’t it?

It’s too bad a situation! You are not wanted – not anywhere. What do you do? What you can do? Live or leave? I have always been chosen to live and leave in times of need. I have left much to live with some. I have left many to live with few. I may leave and let live. Live for what? What I felt would be the best for me. The best! The best, however, is too little!

When you move in life – when you take a few decisions and you take a few steps in life, you always keep going through hurdles and you come out triumphant. You achieve what you always wanted to achieve and you consider that as a Boon from the All Mighty above. A gift you can rejoice for your entire life. You are happy and since you are victorious, you are being liked by all around you. You win!

Take a look again. What is it all about; a boon? Is it worthy? The toil you did; the oceans you sailed; the deserts you travelled; the people you left; the nights you were awake all contribute to what you have today. There is no going back. There is not “thukku” (excuse) for going back now. You are way to ahead in life. All you can boost upon is that you are on a way that you have chosen. Your decision – your thought and your realization of your own dream! Take pride! But the boon – the prize you have now? What if it is not yours? What if the prize is not a prize at all? What if it is a wrath in disguise?

Cutting Down Some Branches!

So, time for some updates. As put in the previous post, I have deleted my Profile from Orkut. It was a good experience staying there for over 2 long years and meeting so many good friends. I will always miss that. However, I am happy that I could come out of that addiction – Orkut was, in many ways an addiction to me. To move ahead, I have deleted my profile from IndyaRocks too. It did not become an addiction – I could not spend much time on it, as I was just learning the various features and ways in it. IndyaRocks has good features, no doubt and I am sure anyone who joins will be pretty happy with the thought process in this community network. I have also packed my bag and baggage from Dhingana and from Hi5. I am not able to work on these – and I am not able to spend much time – so, let’s bid a bye to all these now.

One good news among these. I have started using something new – that’s the new browser from Google. Google Chrome. I have installed it and have been using the same now. Let’s
hope to have good time learning and using this new venture by Google. For those who have not had time to know about the same by now, you may try watching the Video they released in YouTube and the Comic strips that they published to depict the thought and technology behind the Google Chrome. Enjoy!

Note - Leaving Orkut - regarding!

A gentleman knows where to stop. This, I believe is the end of my days in Orkut. I am sending this scrap to you with a heavy heart, as I leave Orkut. Hehe! Don’t worry guys. I know its not a big thing for (many of) you, as a lot of guys join and quits Orkut every second. I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you.

Thank you for the cooperation, company, friendship and happiness that you have shared with me. We have met somewhere, sometime and have passed good time. Thanks for all those.

I have got a lot of good friends here, during the last two and half years in Orkut. I have found many of my lost friends in here – thanks to Google. I would like to keep contacts with all of you as long as possible. Even if I am leaving this platform, I will be available in Gmail. You may contact me at tanbreathes@gmail.com … and as it says, Tan will breathe as long as he does. (NO CHAT PLZ) For all those who have my phone number, do not hesitate to call me anytime I am needed.

A sentence I heard recently: Even if you have not called me in your times of glory and happiness, call me when you are in need; for I am your friend and you have every right to do so.

Goodbye Friend! :)
The above is the Note I sent to all in Orkut - before deleting my account today :)
