A Quote for life!

“A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly.

Hello friends,

First of all, I apologize for being away for so long a time. Well, this has happened in the past too, when I did not blog for a long time. But this time, the reasons are different. This time I was not bored of blogging – I always wanted to write here. The time is such that I am not able to manage the time well and find a niche to devote some time on my writing. There are too many things happening with me simultaneously and I am in a state of dilemma and pre-occupation.

There was a jargon we studied during post graduation, called ‘Opportunity Cost.’ It sounds grave, but it is very simple in meaning. It talks about the loss incurred when you are doing something productive for NOT DOING something else, which could have brought you something else. Ok, suppose you are doing a ‘Job A’ right at this moment (like reading me) and you earn ‘Rs. X’ while doing this for 2 hours (Well, you don’t get anything here, reading me :P). in this two hours, you could have been somewhere else on ‘Job B’ and you might have earned ‘Rs. Y’ – since you have done ‘Job A’ and earned ‘Rs. X’ you are not able to do ‘Job B’ and hence, you miss out on ‘Rs. Y’ – which is the opportunity cost. Never mind, if X is greater or smaller than Y, whatever lost is the opportunity cost, in terms of management.

Now, compare my state here – not blogging and losing on my readers is the opportunity cost I pay for doing certain things in life, which are more important or time worthy at present. The fact that you are reading me here tells me that the opportunity cost is not much high for me; however, there is some. I wish I could do all the things simultaneously and I would not lose anything anywhere! I wish! But it was not to be, hence I could not write. I was just discussing this in TWL meet last weekend, that couple of months ago, I posted 30+ posts and now, it’s down to 2 posts a month!

This post is just to give you an idea about things I wanted to blog about, but due to lack of time, I could not do the same. Well, to ease the process, I will jot down these here below.

  • My first ever Solo performance on my Piano/Keyboard during April – Boishakhi Function.
  • My change of profile in HP.
  • My first ever call from Radio One and going live on air for a few seconds.
  • The India – West Indies cricket Series.
  • The evolution of Ads in the Indian Media.
  • A few blog awards that I received during this time.
  • The vacuum created in our lives by the absence of movies lately.
  • The first ever Series Win for Bangladesh.
  • The determined but awful Ajmal Kasav.
  • Yesterday’s Total Solar Eclipse – which I fortunately saw on TV.
Well, the list goes on and on… I am really bombarded with ideas everyday from dusk to dawn (yes, I work at nights) and I want to write. But I am not able to do that. I could have written something else in this time, when I am writing this, but then I thought, it would be better to give my readers and idea of all the happenings in my life. I will, for sure get back to blogging at the earliest and I am seeing light at the other end of the tunnel – hope, it’s not of that of an incoming train!

Sounds as though you have been busy, busy, busy. I find I don't seem to have enough time to get around to reading all the blogs I like to check on. Well off to check on our one daughter's cats, they are on a vacation, daughter that is not the cats. LOL Hope you have a relaxing week-end.
